28' Cavalier

Amazing Value at i$19,900.00

For Sale: 1984 Cavalier 28' – A Trusted Companion of 37 Years. After 37 years of ownership, the time has come to part ways with a truly treasured part of the family — our beloved 1984 Cavalier 28' yacht.

This boat has been more than just a vessel; she's been a quiet witness to countless sunsets, salty conversations, and weekends away. She's been a source of great fun and has performed well on many twilight evening races, has kept us safe, dry, and comfortable — and we hope her next chapter brings the same joy to someone new. Powered by a near-new Beta 16HP engine with just 42 hours on the clock (installed three years ago with receipts to show), she's ready for many more adventures.

The rigging, professionally completed by Joe Walsh, is right on 10 years old and has stood strong, just like the boat herself. She carries a mainsail and two headsails, with some of the running rigging well maintained — enough sail power to take you wherever the wind calls. Below deck, she’s simple, clean, and thoughtfully laid out. She sleeps six, with the kind of warm, lived-in feel that only comes from decades of care. The galley is fitted with a reliable two-burner metho stove — ideal for making a morning brew or a hot meal after a day on the water. There’s a manual toilet plumbed to a 30-litre holding tank or diverted into the sea, a110-litre freshwater tank, and 25 litres of fuel capacity.

She’s fitted with all the essentials for confident coastal cruising and club racing: a tiller autopilot, wind speed and direction instruments, VHF radio, and a manual bilge pump. Two batteries power her needs, and her 2-blade folding prop ensures smooth performance under power. A small BBQ sits ready for simple meals under the stars. This is a very dry boat — rare and valuable in vessels of this age. She’s been scrubbed regularly (8–9 times per year) and was anti fouled 1.5 years ago.

Her manual plough anchors (DC Fast Set high holding power) have always kept her steady, no matter the conditions. There’s no Ozzy and no macerator — she’s built on simplicity, function, and reliability. The compass is onboard but currently not operating. Included with the sale is a dinghy, with a current storage spot conveniently located on the stairs at the nearby park, right near the water. Keys will be supplied, along with some tools and handy bits and pieces gathered over years of caring for her. Mooring apparatus is included, and there may be the opportunity to take over the current mooring position, subject to availability.

Letting her go is not easy — she’s been deeply loved and looked after, and it’s our sincere hope that her next owner will treat her with the same care and appreciation. She’s ready for a new chapter, new memories, and a fresh breeze. If you’re seeking a classic, dependable yacht with heart, history, and soul — this Cavalier 28 may just be the boat you’ve been waiting for.
